AMFM Names Bennett Zier Cluster Vice President for Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 12, 1999--

AMFM Inc. (NYSE: AFM) named Bennett Zier to the newly created position of Cluster Vice President for its Washington D.C. station group. Reporting directly to John Fullam, the Senior Vice President of Regional Operations, Mr. Zier will have ultimate responsibility for each AMFM station in Washington, D.C., the nation's 7th largest market when ranked by revenue, with a primary emphasis on maximizing the cluster opportunity through top-line growth, ratings performance, expense control and the recruitment of on-air talent and operations personnel. The appointment is effective immediately.

A 21-year radio broadcasting veteran, Mr. Zier is currently Vice President and General Manager for WJMO-FM 'The New JAM'N 99.5 - D.C.'s Jammin' Oldies, WTEM-AM 'Sports Talk' 980 and WWRC-AM. Prior to a brief tenure in New York as Vice President and General BIG 105-FM, now known as 'New York's Jammin' Oldies, Mr. Zier was Vice President and General Manager of Washington, D.C.'s WGAY-FM and WWRC-AM. Before joining AMFM Inc., Mr. Zier served as Vice President, Sales for CBS Radio from 1988 - 1990. Other station management experience includes positions with CBS as Vice President and General Manager of 'Oldies 103' WODS-FM in Boston and with Colfax Communications, an independent broadcaster, as Vice President and General Manger of both WBIG-FM and WTEM-AM in Washington, D.C.
