AMEX TO OPEN OPTIONS TRADING ON PLAINS RESOURCES INC.,
ON AN AMEX-LISTED STOCK
NEW YORK, Feb. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Stock Exchange will begin trading put and call options Tuesday, Feb. 25, on the Amex-listed stock of Plains Resources Inc. (AMEX: PLX).
Headquartered in Houston, Plains Resources explores for and produces oil and natural gas within the United States.
PLX will open with strike prices of 15, 17-1/2, and 20, and position limits of 5,500 contracts. Initial expiration months will be March, April, July, and October of 1992. Cohen, Cohn, Duffy & McGowan, Inc./Aegis & Co. will serve as the specialist unit for the new options.
The Amex trades a total of 269 stock options, including 79 options on over-the-counter stocks. In addition, options are traded on five broad-market indexes -- the Major Market Index (XMI), XMI LEAPS(TM) Index (XLT), S&P MidCap 400 Index (MID), the Institutional Index (XII) and the Japan Index (JPN) -- as well as two industry-based indexes --the Oil Index (XOI) and the Computer Technology Index (XCI). CAPS -- capped options -- are traded on XMI and XII as well. The Exchange also trades 27 LEAPS(TM) on leading stocks which have expirations up to almost three years.
