AMEX TO OPEN OPTIONS TRADING ON BELL SPORTS CORPORATION

 NEW YORK, Oct. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Stock Exchange today announced that it will open options trading on the over-the-counter stock of Bell Sports Corp. (stock/option symbol: BSPT/BQS) on Friday, Oct. 22, 1993.
 Headquartered in Rantoul, Ill., Bell Sports Corp. makes, markets and sells a range of bicycle helmets, suits, carriers, auto racing products, and other bicycle accessories to infants, children, and adults. The company operates under the names of two wholly-owned subsidiaries, Bell, Rhode Gear and BSI Co.
 BQS will open with strike prices of 45, 50 and 55, and position limits of 5,500 contracts. Initial expiration months will be November and December of 1993 and January and April of 1994.
 The Amex trades a total of 349 stock options, including 98 options on over-the-counter stocks, as well as 43 LEAPS(R) (Long-term Equity AnticiPation Securities)(R). In addition, options are traded on eight broad market indexes -- the Major Market Index (XMI), the XMI LEAPS(R) Index (XLT), the S&P MidCap 400 Index and MidCap LEAPS(R) (MID), the Institutional Index (XII), the Japan Index (JPN), the EUROTOP 100 Index (EUR), the Morgan Stanley Cyclical Index (CYC) and the Morgan Stanley Consumer Index (CMR) -- as well as six industry-based indices -- the Oil Index (XOI), the Computer Technology Index (XCI), the Pharmaceutical Index (DRG), the DRG LEAPS(R) Index (DGL), the Biotechnology Index (BTK), and the BTK LEAPS(R) Index (K?L).
