AMETEK Names Alan Devenish Vice President and General Manager of AMETEK Materials Analysis Division.

:AME) today announced the appointment of Mr. Alan Devenish as Vice President and General Manager of AMETEK Materials Analysis Division. Mr. Devenish previously served as Division Vice President of AMETEK's EDAX EDAX Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy  Business Unit since its acquisition in June, 2001.

Mr. Hermance commented, "I am pleased to announce Alan's promotion to Vice President and General Manager of our newly formed Materials Analysis Division. This Division, composed of our EDAX business unit and the recently acquired SPECTRO Analytical Instruments business, is a global leader in analytical instrumentation for analysis of materials. Alan's extensive experience in the materials analysis field combined with his global business background makes him the ideal person to lead this new division."

Mr. Devenish has held a variety of sales, marketing, and general management positions since joining EDAX twenty three years ago. He joined EDAX International in 1983 as Sales Manager when the business was part of Philips Electronics. In 1990 Mr. Devenish was named Sales and Marketing Manager of EDAX and in 1996 was named General Manager. Upon EDAX being sold to a private equity group in 1998, Mr. Devenish was named President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of EDAX, Inc., a position he held until EDAX was acquired by AMETEK in 2001.
