AMETEK COMPLETES PURCHASE OF REVERE AEROSPACE, EXTENDING PRODUCT LINE

PAOLI, Pa., April 5 /PRNewswire/ -- AMETEK, Inc. (NYSE: AME) announced today that it had completed the purchase of certain assets of Revere Aerospace Inc. ("Revere"), a subsidiary of Dobson Park Industries PLC, United Kingdom, for approximately $7 million in cash.
Revere, located in Wallingford, Conn., will become part of AMETEK's Precision Instruments Group and be consolidated into existing AMETEK facilities. Revere is a recognized leader in advanced technology products for the aircraft industry including electric, thermocouple and fiber optic cable assemblies for signal transmission and temperature monitoring, as well as sensors for temperature, proximity, liquid level and flow monitoring.
AMETEK's Precision Instruments Group, with sales of nearly $300 million, is a major producer of instruments for the aerospace, process control and transportation industries. Frank S. Hermance, group vice president, said, "Revere's custom engineered electrical cables and sensors complement our existing product lines and expand our presence with key customers. This acquisition, with sales for the 1992 fiscal year of about $13 million, is a meaningful extension of our core aerospace business. We are a leader in certain niche aerospace markets; industry consolidation in aerospace has presented this unique opportunity which is consistent with our long-term strategic direction."
