Entomo, Inc., the only provider of a completely integrated Online Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) solution for strategic sourcing, announced today that AMETEK Aerospace and Power Instruments (AMETEK A&PI), a unit of AMETEK, Inc. (NYSE:AME), has selected Entomo SmartHub/SRM in an effort to cut direct materials procurement costs.

The Entomo system will enable AMETEK A&PI to optimize their supply chain while improving the management of their supplier relationships.

"We expect the Entomo system to have an immediate impact on our procurement processes," said David Zapico, Vice President and General Manager of AMETEK A&PI. "Entomo SmartHub/SRM provides us with a valuable tool to consolidate materials planning and purchasing across six locations, creating a single point-of-view from our disparate systems."

AMETEK A&PI Selected Entomo SmartHub/SRM because it offered a rich feature set, consolidated purchasing capabilities, and rapid implementation.

"We believe that the best way to achieve lower costs and inventory levels is to improve our collaboration with our suppliers," commented David McGinley, Vice President of Finance at AMETEK A&PI. "Using Entomo SmartHub/SRM, we expect to see significant improvements in the way we source and procure direct materials."

Like many large manufacturers, much of AMETEK A&PI's production expenses come from the total cost of purchased items. According to Stephens, Inc., an investment banking firm, purchased items represent 60% or more of the total versus just 20% a few decades ago.

"We are excited about helping AMETEK A&PI turn their direct materials procurement into a competitive advantage. We believe it's a great example of how our system can deliver rapid results that have a real business impact," comments Alan M. Davis, President and CEO of Entomo. "We are pleased to add a company of AMETEK A&PI's stature to our growing list of prominent customers."

Since launching Entomo SmartHub/SRM in early 2001, Entomo has continued to enhance the system with features that will allow its customers to receive immediate and substantial business impact. Through its Web-based transaction, collaboration, data mining, analytics, and supplier performance management features, Entomo SmartHub/SRM enables purchasing groups to lower the costs of goods sold, without damaging their relationships with existing suppliers.
