Selected for its 30-year government satellite communications experience, AGS will play a crucial role in assisting the NCC in responding to the Federal Government's National Security and Emergency Preparedness (NS/EP NS/EP National Security and Emergency Preparedness

The NCC, a subgroup of the National Communications System The telecommunications system that results from the technical and operational integration of the separate telecommunications systems of the several executive branch departments and agencies having a significant telecommunications capability. Also called NCS. , assists in the initiation, coordination, restoration and reconstitution of services and facilities of the NS/EP telecommunications services, both nationally and internationally. NCC's goal is to ensure that the government's communications infrastructure is available to make an immediate and coordinated response to all emergencies, such as natural disasters, domestic terrorism, man-made disasters or cyber attacks. The NCC also functions as an Information Sharing and Analysis Center, which gathers information about vulnerabilities, threats, intrusions and anomalies from various telecommunications and government sources and analyzes the data to mitigate the effects on the communications infrastructure. This information is ultimately provided to the President of the United States The head of the Executive Branch, one of the three branches of the federal government.

The National Coordinating Center (NCC) was established in 1984 as a result of a National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee (NSTAC NSTAC National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee ) recommendation to develop a joint government-industry national coordinating mechanism to respond to the Federal Government's National Security and Emergency Preparedness (NS/EP) communications service requirements. Composed of up to 30 industry chief executives representing the major communications and network service providers and information technology, finance, and aerospace companies, the NSTAC provides industry-based advice and expertise to the President on issues and problems related to implementing the NS/EP communications policy.
