AMERICAN SYSTEMS Appoints Charles Scruggs to Vice President and Director, Identity Management and Information Assurance.

Industry Veteran to Serve Customers Seeking to Improve Data Management and Access, Drive Employee Efficiency and Productivity

CHANTILLY, Va. -- AMERICAN SYSTEMS, an employee-owned government IT solutions provider, today announced the appointment of Charles Scruggs to the position of vice president and director, Identity Management (IDM) and Information Assurance (IA). In this position, Scruggs will help AMERICAN SYSTEMS customers control and manage sensitive data while strengthening authentication to increase user and employee productivity and efficiency.

As an access and authentication expert, Scruggs is often called on to develop white papers and present on encryption, digital signatures, public key infrastructure (PKI), physical and logical access controls, smartcards, and multi-factor authentication.

Scruggs is an active member of several professional associations, including the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA), the American Council for Technology/Industry Advisory Council (ACT/IAC), the Information Assurance Technical Framework Forum (IATFF), and the FBI's InfraGard Association. As an ACT/IAC Information Security & Privacy (IS&P) and Emerging Technology (ET) shared interest group (SIG) member, Scruggs co-chaired the 2005-2006 Privacy Committee, served as the Management of Change 2006 Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) panel coordinator, and co-authored a part of the Identity Management & Access Control committee series.

Before joining AMERICAN SYSTEMS, Scruggs directed, managed and coordinated plans to secure strategic partnerships to support growth and profitability in the federal market at Entrust. Prior to Entrust, Scruggs also served as vice president of sales and marketing at InfoMediary Associates and held senior positions at Ford Aerospace & Communications Corporation, Computer Sciences Corporation and KPMG LLP. Scruggs started his career at the National Security Agency (NSA) as an engineering technician.

Scruggs is a business administration graduate of Anne Arundel College and has completed additional coursework at the National Security Agency (NSA) National Cryptologic School.

Scruggs will be based out of AMERICAN SYSTEMS' Washington, DC, office.
