AMERICAN STOCK EXCHANGE DAILY REPORT

 NEW YORK, Feb. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Prices on the American Stock Exchange closed higher today in heavy trading. The Amex Market Value Index closed up .62 to 415.51. Advances led declines 328 to 262 with 190 issues unchanged. The average price per share rose 2 cents.
 Stock volume for the regular session totaled 22,417,410 shares, up from the 20,249,585 shares traded yesterday. There was no after-hours activity reported.
 Topping the most active list was Wang Laboratories Class B, up 1/16 to 1-1/8 on 1,462,300 shares, followed by Tecogen, up 3/8 to 9-7/8 on 796,800 shares. The third most active issue, NTN Communications, was up 1/2 to 7-1/8 on 784,400 shares.

 Today's cumulative volume in the Emerging Company Marketplace (ECM) totaled 308,600 shares. The most actively traded stock on the ECM was Audre Recognition Systems, down 1/8 to 5 on 107,500 shares.
 Trading in options was active today with 215,012 contracts changing hands as compared with 207,801 contracts traded yesterday. Calls were higher as puts traded lower.
 Topping the most active list in puts was the Midcap Sep 145 series, down 1-3/8 to 1-7/16 on 6,200 contracts, followed by the Philip Morris Feb 75 series, up 5/16 to 1-1/16 on 1,603 contracts. The third most active was the Major Market Index Feb 350 series down 15/16 to 1-1/4 on 1,578 contracts.
 Topping the most active list in calls was the AMR Corporation Feb 65 series, up 9/16 to 1-1/8 on 4,742 contrcts, followed by the AMR Corporation Mar 65 series up 5/8 to 2-1/4 on 4,194 contracts. The third most active was the Motorola Feb 55 series, up 1/4 to 1-3/8 on 2,501 contracts.
 AMEX Index Options closed as follows:
 Standard & Poor's MidCap Index: up 1.32 to 166.77. Contracts volume 9,610, with 8,224 puts and 1,386 calls.
 Major Market Index: up 3.26 to 356.31. Contracts volume 10,151, with 4,577 puts and 5,574 calls.
 XMI Leaps Index: up .33 to 35.63. Contracts volume 248, with 148 puts and 100 calls.
 Institutional Index (XII): up .51 to 450.75. Contracts volume 811, with 431 puts and 380 calls.
 Institutional Index (PXP): up .51 to 450.75. Contracts volume 447, with 297 puts and 150 calls.
 EuroTop 100 Index: up 4.15 to 451.87. Contracts volume 4, with 0 puts and 4 calls.
 Japan Index: down .31 to 173.82. Contracts volume 2,571, with 1,607 puts and 964 calls.
 Pharmaceutical Index: up 1.94 to 175.53. Contracts volume 1,316, with 754 puts and 562 calls.
 Biotechnology Index: up 1.58 to 145.51. Contracts volume 281, with 112 puts and 169 calls.
 Computer Technology Index: down .99 to 122.03. Contracts volume 15, with 10 puts and 5 calls.
 Oil Index: up .82 to 238.77. Contracts volume 94, with 25 puts and 69 calls.
