AMERICAN STOCK EXCHANGE DAILY REPORT

 NEW YORK, Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Prices on the American Stock Exchange closed higher today in very heavy trading. The Amex Market Value Index closed up .55 to 411.63. Advances led declines 292 to 269 with 200 issues unchanged. The average price per share rose 2 cents.
 Stock volume for the regular session totaled 19,641,045 shares, down from the 20,854,930 shares traded Friday. There was no after hours activity.
 Topping the most active list was Wang, down 5/16 to 1-5/16 on 4,239,100 shares, followed by Elsinore Corp, up 13/16 to 3-3/16 on 966,200 shares. The third most active issue, Standard & Poor's Depositary Receipts was up 5/16 to 44-1/4 on 480,500 shares.

 Today's cumulative volume in the Emerging Company Marketplace (ECM) totaled 408,300 shares. The most actively traded stock on the ECM was Audre Recognition Systems, Inc., up 3/8 to 4-7/8 on 129,900 shares.
 Trading in options was light/moderate/active today with 171,162 contracts changing hands as compared with 200,198 contracts traded Friday. Calls were higher as puts traded lower.
 Topping the most active list in puts was the Midcap 400 Jun 145 series, unchanged at 1-3/16 on 2,500 contracts, followed by the Motorola Feb 50 series, down 1-9/16 to 7/16 on 2,108 contracts. The third most active was the Grace Mar 35 series unchanged at 1/4 on 2,000 contracts.
 Topping the most active list in calls was the Motorola Feb 55 series, up 7/16 to 1-1/8 on 5,805 contracts, followed by the Philip Morris Mar 75 series up 3/8 to 2-1/2 on 5,369 contracts. The third most active was the Motorola Feb 50 series, up 1-1/8 to 4 on 3,166 contracts.
 AMEX Index Options closed as follows:
 Standard & Poor's MidCap Index: up 1.15 to 163.50. Contracts volume 3,162, with 2,962 puts and 200 calls.
 Major Market Index: up 2.47 to 349.78. Contracts volume 6,778, with 2,443 puts and 4,335 calls.
 XMI Leaps Index: up .25 to 34.98. Contracts volume 0, with 0 puts and 0 calls.
 Institutional Index (XII): up 4.07 to 447.30. Contracts volume 2,241, with 689 puts and 1,552 calls.
