 NEW YORK, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Prices on the American Stock


Exchange closed higher today in active trading. The Amex Market Value Index closed up 0.42 to 389.23. Advances led declines 277 to 249 with 211 issues unchanged. The average price per share rose two cents.
 Stock volume for the regular session totaled 15,517,325 shares, down from the 19,023,340 shares traded yesterday. After-hours volume totaled 600 shares, bringing the cumulative volume for today to 15,520,025 shares.
 Topping the most active list was ICH Corporation, down 5/16 to 4-3/16 on 598,600 shares, followed by ALC Communications, up 3/8 to 10-1/8 on 482,200 shares. The third most active issue, Davstar was down 1-3/8 to 10-1/4 on 398,600 shares.

 Today's cumulative volume in the Emerging Company Marketplace (ECM) totaled 292,400 shares. The most actively traded stock on the ECM was AUDRE Recognition Systems, Inc., unchanged at 3-1/8 on 72,200 shares.
 Trading in options was light today with 160,553 contracts changing hands as compared with 176,135 contracts traded yesterday. Calls were higher as puts traded lower.
 Topping the most active list in puts was the Phillip Morris November 75 series, down 1/8 to 1/8 on 1,669 contracts, followed by the Tuscon Electric April 5 series, down 1/8 to 2-1/8 on 1,035 contracts. The third most active was the Phillip Morris December 75 series down 1/2 to 3/4 on 916 contracts.
 Topping the most active list in calls was the Diagnostek January 12 1/2 series, down 15/16 to 1/8 on 2,661 contracts, followed by the Phillip Morris November 80 series up 5/16 to 5/8 on 2,557 contracts. The third most active was the Diagnostek January 10 series, down 2 to 3/8 on 2,129 contracts.
 AMEX Index Options closed as follows:
 Standard & Poor's MidCap Index: down .34 to 152.28. Contracts volume 1,509, with 737 puts and 772 calls.
 Major Market Index: up .36 to 343.22. Contracts volume 4,111, with 1,397 puts and 2,714 calls.
