 NEW YORK, June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Prices on the American Stock


Exchange closed higher today in active trading. The Amex Market Value Index closed up 3.06 to 377.10. Advances led declines 270 to 247 with 239 issues unchanged. The average price per share rose nine cents.
 Stock volume for the regular session totaled 12,498,970 shares, up from the 10,195,600 shares traded Friday. There was no after hours activity today.
 Topping the most active list was B.A.T. Industries, down 1/16 to 14 3/16 on 560,500 shares, followed by The British Pound Currency Put Warrents, down 1/4 to 2 7/8 on 484,300 shares. The third most active issue, Resorts International was down 1/4 to 1 on 438,800 shares.

 Today's volume in the Emerging Company Marketplace (ECM) totaled 135,400 shares. The most actively traded stock on the ECM was AUDRE Recognition Systems, up 3/8 to 3 1/2 on 34,800 shares.
 Trading in options was light today with 138,807 contracts changing hands as compared with 143,088 contracts traded Friday. Calls were higher as puts traded lower.
 Topping the most active list in puts was the Chase Manhattan July 25 series, down 1/16 to 1/8 on 3,500 contracts, followed by the Phillip Morris July 70 series, down 1/16 to 1/2 on 2,064 contracts. The third most active was the S&P Midcap 400 July 140 series down 2 1/4 to 2 on 1,215 contracts.
 Topping the most active list in calls was the Chase Manhattan July 25 series, up 5/8 to 3 1/4 on 3,532 contracts, followed by the Amgen Inc. July 60 series up 1 1/4 to 2 3/8 on 1,978 contracts. The third most active was the Phillip Morris July 75 series, down 3/16 to 3/4 on 1,958 contracts.

 AMEX Index Options closed as follows:
 S&P Midcap Index: up 2.51 to 138.64. Contracts volume 3,336, with 3,112 puts and 224 calls.
 Major Market Index: up 4.17 to 352.80. Contracts volume 7,925, with 4,051 puts and 3,874 calls.
 XMI Leaps Index (XLT): up .42 to 35.28. Contracts volume 40 with 40 puts and 0 calls.
 Institutional Index: up 5.42 to 423.25. Contracts volume 1,326 with 847 puts and 479 calls.
