 NEW YORK, May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Prices on the American Stock


Exchange closed mixed today in very active trading. The Amex Market Value Index closed up 0.35 to 394.12. Declines led advances 276 to 264 with 249 issues unchanged. The average price per share rose one cent.
 Stock volume for the regular session totaled 15,574,705 shares, down from the 17,016,365 shares traded yesterday. After-Hours volume totaled 0 shares, bringing the cumulative volume for today to 15,574,705 shares.
 Topping the most active list was U.S. Bioscience, up 5/8 to 13-3/8 on 571,400 shares, followed by Paine Webber Put Warrants, down 1/4 to 13 3/4 on 521,800 shares. The third most active issue, Cablevision Systems was unchanged at 27-3/8 on 443,000 shares.

 Today's volume in the Emerging Company Marketplace (ECM) totaled 179,100 shares. The most actively traded stock on the ECM was Media Logic, Inc., up 15/16 to 10 on 31,600 shares.
 Trading in options was light today with 129,167 contracts changing hands as compared with 149,134 contracts traded yesterday. Calls and puts both traded lower.
 Topping the most active list in puts was the Japan Jun. 175 series, down 1/4 to 4 on 2,811 contracts, followed by the Japan May 185 series, down 2 3/8 to 4 1/2 on 2,280 contracts. The third most active was the Japan May 180 series down 1 3/8 to 2 3/8 on 1,263 contracts.
 Topping the most active list in calls was the Glaxo May 30 series, unchanged at 1/8 on 3,333 contracts, followed by the Pfizer Jun. 65 series unchanged at 7 3/8 on 2,150 contracts. The third most active was the Philip Morris Jun. 80 series, down 1 /8 to 2 3/16 on 1,809 contracts.
 AMEX Index Options closed as follows:
 S&P Midcap Index: down .49 to 144.80. Contracts volume 1,801, with 1,010 puts and 791 calls.
 Major Market Index: down .42 to 354.47. Contracts volume 4,437 with 2,327 puts and 2,110 calls.
 Capped Major Market Index: down .42 to 354.47. Contracts volume 0, with 0 puts and 0 calls.
 XMI Leaps Index: down .04 to 35.45. Contracts volume 427 with 427 puts and 0 calls.
 Institutional Index: down .93 to 428.24. Contracts volume 2,260, with 1,310 puts and 950 calls.
