 NEW YORK, Jan. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Prices on the American Stock


Exchange closed mixed today in heavy trading. The Amex Market Value Index closed down .53 to 413.77. Declines led advances 340 to 296 with 230 issues unchanged. The average price per share fell one cent.
 Stock volume for the regular session totaled 25,679,795 shares, down from the 25,700,480 shares traded yesterday. After-hours volume totaled 5,300 shares, bringing the cumulative volume for today to 25,685,095 shares.
 There were 421 block trades, while 350 blocks were traded in the previous trading session.
 Topping the most active list was Biopharmaceutics, Inc., down 3/4 to 4 on 1,248,400 shares, followed by Energy Service Corp., up 1/8 to 1-5/8 on 755,600 shares. The third most active issue, Enzo Biochem was down 1 to 5-5/8 on 725,200 shares.

 Trading in options was heavy today with 336,169 contracts changing hands as compared with 276,485 contracts traded yesterday. Puts were higher as calls traded lower.
 Topping the most active list in puts was the Glaxo Feb. 30 series, up 3/8 to 1-1/8 on 3,451 contracts, followed by the Major Market Index Jan. 345 series, up 3/16 to 1-1/8 on 2,571 contracts. The third most active was the Telefonos de Mexico Feb. 35 series up 3/16 to 5/8 on 2,520 contracts.
 Topping the most active list in calls was the Glaxo F.? 30 series, down 1-1/16 to 2-3/16 on 3,992 contracts, followed by the Unisys Jan. 5 series up 1/4 to 1/2 on 3,858 contracts. The third most active was the Glaxo May 27 1/2 series, down 1-1/8 to 5-1/8 on 3,248 contracts.

 Major Market Index: down 2.47 to 346.44. Contracts volume 13,993, with 7,961 puts and 6,032 calls.
