 NEW YORK, Dec. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Prices on the American Stock


Exchange closed higher today in active trading. The Amex Market Value Index closed up 4.07 to 377.52. Advances led declines 367 to 221 with 253 issues unchanged. The average price per share rose 12 cents.
 Stock volume for the regular session totaled 12,452,450 shares, up from the 11,307,935 shares traded in Tuesday's abbreviated session. After-hours volume totaled 1,000 shares, bringing the cumulative volume for today to 12,453,450 shares.
 There were 171 block trades, while 168 blocks were traded in the previous trading session.
 Topping the most active list was Hanson PLC., Warrants, Class B, when issued, unchanged at 13/32 on 1,320,500 shares, followed by Amdahl, up 1/2 to 15-3/8 on 287,000 shares. The third most active issue, Americus Trust for G.E. shares, scores, was up 3/4 to 6-7/8 on 279,900 shares.

 Trading in options was light today with 148,927 contracts changing hands as compared with 118,055 contracts traded Tuesday. Calls were higher as puts traded lower.
 Topping the most active list in puts was the American Home Products Jan 80 series, down 3/8 to 5/8 on 4,405 contracts, followed by the American Express Jan 30 series, down 1-1/2 to 9-1/2 on 3,004 contracts. The third most active was the Chase Manhattan Jan 17 1/2 series down 5/8 to 5/8 on 1,558 contracts.
 Topping the most active list in calls was the American Express Jan 15 series, up 1 to 5-3/4 on 3,004 contracts, followed by the American Express Jan 20 series up 1/2 to 1-1/8 on 2,256 contracts. The third most active was the Philip Morris Jan 75 series, up 1-3/8 to 2-1/2 on 2,150 contracts.
