    NEW YORK, Nov. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Prices on the American Stock


Exchange closed mixed today in light trading. The Amex Market Value Index closed up .78 to 391.24. Declines led advances 288 to 256 with 263 issues unchanged. The average price per share rose three cents.
    Stock volume for the regular session totaled 11,253,025 shares, down from the 15,018,190 shares traded Friday.  After-hours volume totaled 700 shares, bringing the cumulative volume for today to 11,253,725 shares.
    There were 142 block trades, while 230 blocks were traded in the previous trading session.
    Topping the most active list was Barr Laboratories down 3-3/4 to 23-1/4 on 330,700 shares, followed by U.S. BioScience up 2-1/2 to 45 on 281,100 shares.  The third most active issue, National Patent Development Corporation was up 3/8 to 6 on 227,400 shares.

    Trading in options was light today with 111,533 contracts changing hands as compared with 141,057 contracts traded Friday.  Calls were higher as puts traded lower.
    Topping the most active list in puts was the U.S. Healthcare, Inc. Jan. 25 series, up 1/16 to 5/16 on 2,000 contracts, followed by the Major Market Index Nov. 320 series, down 9/16 to 15/16 on 768 contracts. The third most active was the AMR Corporation Nov. 60 series down 1/4 to 1/2 on 643 contracts.
    Topping the most active list in calls was the Telefonos de Mexico Feb. 50 series, unchanged at 1-7/16 on 2,480 contracts, followed by the U.S. Healthcare, Inc. Jan. 25 series unchanged at 10-1/4 on 2,000 contracts.  The third most active was the Tele-Communications, Inc. Jan. 12 1/2 series, up 1/4 to 3 on 1,589 contracts.
    AMEX Index Options closed as follows:
    Major Market Index: up .56 to 323.02.  Contracts volume 4,798, with 2,511 puts and 2,287 calls.
    Lt (XLT) Index: up .05 to 32.30.  Contracts volume 177, with 171 puts and 6 calls.
    Institutional Index: up .69 to 409.06.  Contracts volume 3,291, with 1,568 puts and 1,723 calls.
    Japan Index: down 2.53 to 243.64.  Contracts volume 733, with 390 puts and 343 calls.
    Computer Technology Index: up .40 to 112.55.  Contracts volume 0, with 0 puts and 0 calls.
    Oil Index: down .54 to 248.90.  Contracts volume 51, with 24 puts and 27 calls.
    Most Active Major Market Index Option: Nov 325 calls, with a total of 785 contracts traded.
    Most Active Institutional Index Option: Nov 420 calls, with a total of 540 contracts traded.
