    NEW YORK, Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Prices on the American Stock


Exchange closed higher today in very active trading. The Amex Market Value Index closed up 0.84 to 384.94. Advances led declines 303 to 290 with 243 issues unchanged. The average price per share rose three cents.
    Stock volume for the regular session totaled 14,270,890 shares, up from the 12,262,635 shares traded yesterday.  There was no after-hours volume.
    There were 227 block trades, while 176 blocks were traded in the previous trading session.
    Topping the most active list was Fruit of the Loom, up 7/8 to 24-1/8 on 968,600 shares, followed by Harken Energy Corporation, up 1-1/4 to 7-1/8 on 851,600 shares.  The third most active issue, Go-Video was up 1 to 1-7/8 on 351,900 shares.

    Trading in options was light today with 124,438 contracts changing hands as compared with 117,161 contracts traded yesterday.  Puts were higher as calls traded lower.
    Topping the most active list in puts was the Disney Company Nov. 115 series, up 1-3/4 to 2-9/16 on 1,978 contracts, followed by the Disney Company Nov. 120 series, up 3-7/8 to 6-1/2 on 1,562 contracts.  The third most active was the Disney Company Nov. 110 series up 7/16 to 3/4 on 1,331 contracts.
    Topping the most active list in calls was the Consolidated Edison Nov. 25 series, up 1/16 to 3/4 on 2,579 contracts, followed by the Consolidated Edison Nov. 20 series down 1/8 to 5-3/4 on 1,730 contracts. The third most active was the Apple Computer Nov. 50 series, down 7/16 to 13/16 on 1,521 contracts.
    AMEX Index Options closed as follows:
    Major Market Index: down 1.30 to 321.34.  Contracts volume 6,143, with 3,078 puts and 3,065 calls.
    LT (XLT) Index: down .13 to 32.13.  Contracts volume 153, with 150 puts and 3 calls.
    Institutional Index: down 1.74 to 405.23.  Contracts volume 5,036, with 3,168 puts and 1,868 calls.
    Japan Index: down .89 to 250.85.  Contracts volume 417, with 375 puts and 42 calls.
    Computer Technology Index: down .15 to 109.35.  Contracts volume 5, with 0 puts and 5 calls.
    Oil Index: down .97 to 251.89.  Contracts volume 19, with 1 puts and 18 calls.
    Most Active Major Market Index Option: Nov 325 calls, with a total of 1,050 contracts traded.
    Most Active Institutional Index Option: Mar 440 calls and Mar 445 calls, with a total of 500 each contracts traded.
