 AMERICAN POWER CONVERSION EARNINGS UP 67 PERCENT FOR 1991
 WEST KINGSTON, R.I., Feb. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- American Power


Conversion Corporation (NASDAQ: APPC) today announced record sales and earnings for the year ended Dec. 31, 1991.
 Sales for 1991 were $93.6 million, up 58 percent from $59.2 million in 1990. Annual earnings were $15.5 million, 69 cents per share, up 67 percent from $9.3 million, 43 cents per share, in 1990. All earnings per share results reflect a 2-for-1 stock split effected in December 1991.
 Sales for the fourth quarter of 1991 were $28.1 million, up 69 percent from $16.6 million for the fourth quarter of 1990. Earnings for the fourth quarter of 1991 were $5.5 million, 24 cents per share, up 72 percent from $3.2 million, 14 cents per share, in the fourth quarter of 1990.
 Rodger B. Dowdell Jr., president and chief executive officer, said that during 1991 -- APC's tenth year in business -- the company "was able to take market share from existing competitors and grow into new markets with new products."
 Dowdell noted that international sales continue to grow quickly, increasing from approximately 15 percent of net sales in 1990 to approximately 25 percent of net sale in 1991.
