 AMERICAN PHYSICIANS SERVICE GROUP ANNOUNCES INVESTMENT
 IN RONALD LUKE & ASSOCIATES
 AUSTIN, Texas, April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- American Physicians Service Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMPH) today announced the investment by APS in Ronald Luke & Associates, Inc., an Austin, Texas based health care management firm, specializing in utilization review, particularly workers' compensation. APS has provided RLA a $1 million seven-year term loan and has received a five-year warrant to purchase 50 percent of RLA's common stock for $1 million.
 Ronald Luke & Associates, Inc., provides medical cost management services on a national basis, including utilization review, medical bill review, case management and access to PPO networks. RLA also provides economic, market and public policy research on a national basis. Clients include law firms, major insurance companies, healthcare organizations, third party administrators and governmental units.
 Ken Shifrin, chairman of the board of APS, stated, "RLA's growth opportunities are outstanding and there are several opportunities for our companies to work together. For example, our third party administration services for processing medical and dental insurance claims are a natural fit with their claims services operation. APS will have two directors on RLA's board to help maximize these opportunities."
 According to Ron Luke, president of RLA, "Cost containment is critical to improving our country's healthcare system. With the additional capital from APS, we plan to expand our market by offering our services to large corporations to assist them in controlling healthcare costs."
 APS is a financial services firm, with subsidiaries and affiliates that provide: medical malpractice; third party medical and dental administration services; brokerage, financial planning and investment services to individuals and institutions; and computer systems for medical clinics and university medical schools. Its corporate offices are located in Austin, Texas with regional offices in San Antonio and Dallas and Little Rock, Ark.
