Chatsworth's Scott Sellz couldn't help but laugh about the pants he and the rest of his teammates wore against Brooklawn (N.J.) in the opening round of the American Legion American Legion, national association of male and female war veterans, founded (1919) in Paris. Membership is open to veterans of World Wars I and II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.  World Series on Friday night.

For the first time in a long time - Sellz couldn't quite remember how long - Chatsworth took the field without its gray-uniform pants. The team that fended off elimination 11 straight times heading into the World Series had been in their road pants ever since the first game of the West Regional.

``It's just superstition superstition, an irrational belief or practice resulting from ignorance or fear of the unknown. The validity of superstitions is based on belief in the power of magic and witchcraft and in such invisible forces as spirits and demons. ,'' Sellz said. ``It doesn't mean anything.''

But Friday, Chatsworth, which was the visiting team, wore the traditional uniforms of a home team - all white, with pinstripes. That's because Brooklawn, which was the home team, decided to wear its road colors - gray tops and bottoms.

The uniforms Chatsworth wore - their home apparel during the regular season - hadn't been worn all postseason.

The last time two players went deep back-to-back, as Sellz and Chad Renfern did, was in Rapid City, S.D., in 1997.

The only other time a team had three home runs in an inning was in 1985 at Kokomo, Ind., when the team from Midlothian, Va., hit three in the first inning against Guaynabo, Puerto Rico Guaynabo (pronounced as IPA: [ˌɡwaiˈnabo]; also known as Guaynabo City or GC) is a municipality in the northern part of Puerto Rico, located in the northern coast of the island, north of Aguas Buenas; south of .

Midlothian owns the record for most hit in a single game by one team with six in that same game, a 13-9 win.

Also, Chatsworth shortstop Matt Fisher, who hit two home runs, became the first to do so since Tim Raines
Timothy Raines (born September 16 1959 in Sanford, Florida), nicknamed "Rock",[1] is a former left fielder in Major League Baseball known for his speed and ability to get on base. The Montreal Expos selected him in the 5th round of the 1977 amateur draft.
, Jr., of Sanford, Fla., and Shawn Walker of Medford, Ore., each accomplished the feat in 1997.

A total of 19 players have hit two home runs in the same game in American Legion World Series history.

``It would have been better if we pulled (the win) out, though,'' said Fisher of his two solo homers Noun 1. solo homer - a home run with no runners on base
