Scott Sellz ripped two doubles and a single, raising his tournament hit total to 11, and Michael Kunes saved the Stockton win and also homered and singled. Ryan Robbins was the winning pitcher against Stockton and improved to 14-0 this summer.

Redfern's five hits boosted his four-game total to .500 with four home runs. He's trying to come through on his prediction of a higher average (.540) and more home runs than his father Pete compiled when he led San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley

``Everything I know about baseball comes from him,'' Chad said of his father. ``He always says you better hustle every time, because you never know who may be watching.''

Redfern's hustle was evident when he threw out a Stockton runner at home, shutting down a fourth-inning rally. After two home runs against El Segundo, Redfern hit a two-run homer over the right-field fence in the first inning to tie the game.

``I told the guys I would hit five home runs, but I was just joking around,'' said Chad, who signed with San Diego State.

Redfern, Sellz, Kunes, Nick Huston and Brian Lee singled in a four-run sixth to clinch the opener behind pitcher Charles Kenny.

Chatsworth (36-5) trailed Stockton (21-6) before a five-run seventh inning that wiped out a 10-7 deficit. Huston's single broke the tie after Kunes was safe on an error to knot the score at 10.

``I figured I would get the call sometime,'' Kunes said.

``Kunes said he could go. That was the green light for me,'' Lacour said. ``He is our ace.''

After clinching the regional berth, Lacour plans to use many of his reserves today.

``(Today's game) doesn't mean a whole lot,'' he said. ``I want to give other guys a chance to get some at-bats.''
