AMERICAN LEGION: CAMARILLO TOPS FAVORED DANVILLE IN 17-UNDER PLAY SENIOR PAIR KEYS UPSET OF NO. 1-SEEDED TEAM.

J.T Bricker and Travis Sutton made it difficult to believe Camarillo was not playing at full strength.

The two incoming seniors led Camarillo to a 4-3 upset of defending champion defending champion n (SPORT) → defensor/a m/f del título

Bricker, who just made the move from catcher to pitcher this spring, made the start and improved to 10-2. Sutton relieved Bricker in the sixth and earned the save, stranding two runners in the seventh inning. Sutton also had two of Camarillo's six hits, including a home run, giving him 54 hits this summer.

The victory is encouraging because two of Camarillo's top players, outfielder Delmon Young Delmon Damarcus Young, (born September 14, 1985 in Montgomery, Alabama), the younger brother of Dmitri Young, is an outfielder on the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and was, arguably, the top hitting prospect in baseball as of the end of the 2005 minor-league baseball season.  and shortstop Brad Boyer, did not play. Boyer and Young remained in Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region,  for the Area Code Games, which run through this afternoon in Long Beach. Sutton gave Camarillo (35-4) an early lead against Danville with a two- run home run in the second inning, putting Camarillo up 2-0. Camarillo scored again in the fifth on a two-run home run by Andrew Berkovick, whose shot was his team-high ninth of the summer. Danville opened the sixth with a double and single, but managed just one run in the inning on a squeeze play.
