AMERICAN HONDA ANNOUNCES ACCORD RECALL

 AMERICAN HONDA ANNOUNCES ACCORD RECALL
TORRANCE, Calif., March 25 /PRNewswire/ -- American Honda announced

today the recall of 1982 through 1985 Accord automobiles which have been driven in areas where corrosive road salts have been used extensively for snow or ice control.
If the protective coating on the fuel filler or breather pipe is damaged, salt water may accumulate causing corrosion which could eventually rust through the pipes. This could result in fuel leakage when the gas tank is filled or topped off.
Although all owners of 1982-85 Accords will be notified of this recall, approximately 400,000 units which are operated in areas where salt is used extensively for snow control are potentially subject to the problem.
There have been no fires or other incidents reported to American Honda because of this condition.
Replacement of the affected parts will be performed free of charge by authorized Honda dealers.
