AMERICAN GREETINGS TO CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP
AT WHITE HOUSE EASTER EGG ROLL
CLEVELAND, April 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Cleveland based American Greetings and its Easter mascot Bloomer Bunny will invite attendees of the 114th annual White House Easter Egg Roll to be among the first to sign a giant international friendship card.
The 24' by 12' greeting card was created by American Greetings artists as a vehicle for millions to send "American Greetings to the World." It celebrates a unique international "pen-friending" program developed last year in cooperation with the United Nations. The program has matched more than 560,000 Americans with pen friends worldwide.
Americans across the country will be able to sign the giant card at events sponsored by American Greetings and Forget Me Not retailers before the card is sent abroad.
The Easter Egg Roll, a White House tradition since President's Hayes' administration is April 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. American Greetings is a corporate sponsor of the event.
Children attending the event can have their pictures taken with Bloomer Bunny, who will be distributing specially designed coloring books that emphasize international friendship. Each book has been specially imprinted with the caption, "A Family Easter at the White House, April 20, 1992."
This marks Bloomer Bunny's fourth appearance at the annual White House festivities. At last year's Easter Egg Roll, he assisted participants in signing cards that were mailed to service people in the Persian Gulf, American Greetings provided 25,000 cards for the event.
President and Mrs. Bush are expected to host the event, which will be covered by the White House Press Corps and will receive media attention worldwide.
