AMERICAN FOREST RESOURCE ALLIANCE ISSUES STATEMENT
 ON SUPREME COURT RULING
PORTLAND, Ore., March 25 /PRNewswire/ -- The following statement was issued today by Mark Rey, American Forest Resource Alliance (AFRA) executive director, in response to the unanimous Supreme Court ruling upholding Section 318 of the 1989 Interior Appropriations Bill:
"The U.S. Supreme Court in its historic, slam-dunk ruling today clearly and decisively reaffirmed the authority of Congress to establish reasonable judicial procedures.
"This decision should provide a green light to Congress to fashion long-term legislation that not only protects the environment, but at the same time shields timber families and communities from special interest litigators.
"With this encouragement, we now urge Congress to move forward with the Forests and Families Protection Act ending the tyranny of pressure group lawyers and likewise the war in the woods."
