AMERICAN ENTERPRISES ANNOUNCES INDIAN GAMING LAWSUIT AGAINST CALIFORNIA TO BE HEARD MARCH 5

LAS VEGAS, March 4 /PRNewswire/ -- American Enterprises Inc. (NASDAQ: ACES), which holds a management consulting contract for the Table Mountain Rancheria Casino, an Indian gaming enterprise near Fresno, Calif., announced today that the lawsuit filed on behalf of 17 Indian tribes against the State of California and its governor to determine the types of casino games permitted on Indian reservations, will be heard in federal court tomorrow.
According to Ronald J. Tassinari, president of American Enterprises, the tribes are seeking a declaratory judgment that the state and Gov. Pete Wilson are obligated to enter into a tribal-state compact for slot machines and banking card games. "The lawsuit was filed in May 1992, by agreement between the State of California and the tribes. Over the last ten months the parties have been negotiating the regulatory environment for the types of games they have agreed upon, while waiting for the court to clarify the scope of games the parties cannot agree upon. This route was chosen because it was believed to be in the best interest of Table Mountain and the other tribes," he said.
American Enterprises is traded on NASDAQ under the symbol ACES. The company manages the Table Mountain Rancheria Casino, located 18 miles north of Fresno. The casino is a 33,000 square-foot facility offering high-stakes bingo, conventional and Asian poker and other non-banking card games. It attracts over 8,000 gaming enthusiasts a week. A compact with California will permit the company to expand the types of games at the casino.
