"As the use of computer animation evidence in the courtroom increased in recent years, it became apparent to judges and attorneys alike that new rules and procedures were going to be needed to address the unique questions of admissibility raised by this new type of evidence," said Francis L. Bremson, chair of the Division's Lawyers' Conference of the ABA. "The Lawyers Conference of the JAD (Joint Application Development) An approach to systems analysis and design introduced by IBM in 1977 that emphasizes teamwork between user and technician. Small groups meet to determine system objectives and the business transactions to be supported.  was a logical place for that dialogue to begin, as the Conference is a key forum within the ABA for bench-bar consideration of issues related to judicial administration and procedure."

Computer Animation in the Courtroom -- A Primer CD-ROM will be unveiled August 4 at the 1996 ABA Annual Meeting in Orlando, Florida The city of Orlando is a major city in central Florida and is the county seat of Orange County, Florida. According to the 2000 census, the city population was 185,951. A 2006 U.S. . Authors of the title will be on hand to demonstrate the CD-ROM's capabilities and to answer any questions. Annual Meeting attendees will have the opportunity to purchase the title at a special 20% discount during this meeting.

CD-ROM concept, content stems from ABA committee expertise

After the ABA's Lawyers' Conference concluded that guidelines were imperative, they organized a committee to plan how to effectively disseminate the information. Judges and lawyers from all over the country joined forces to form the Committee on the Use of Technically Sophisticated Evidence, which subsequently agreed that CD-ROM was the most logical choice for publication since it allowed the display of sample animation along with large volumes of text and case law. The CD-ROM was designed not only to teach, but also to serve as a resource for case preparation. In fact, text can be printed directly from within the program or from user-friendly independent word processing files which can be downloaded as models for pleadings and correspondence.

"With contributions from a broad mix of accomplished legal professionals, this CD-ROM will take users beyond bland textbook information to vivid real-world experiences," said Bremson. "Five case studies drawn from actual lawsuits will exemplify the computer animation process from the proposal stage through preparation, pre-trial and trial. Demonstrative LEGACY, DEMONSTRATIVE. A demonstrative legacy is a bequest of a certain sum of money; intended for the legatee at all events, with a fund particularly referred to for its payment; so that if the estate be not the testator's property at his death, the legacy will not fail: but be payable  aids from intellectual property, commercial, motor vehicle and environmental cases will be included, as well as actual animation footage that was used at= trial."
