Church leaders hope to help the congregation and community with more workshops in family communication and career skills, tutoring programs for young people, visits to the elderly, and eventually a substance abuse program for alcoholics and drug addicts. Pastors urged the congregation to use the new church facility to help the most troubled members of the community.

``Dopeheads are going to start staggering through the door, folks smelling like alcohol are going to be bubbling See DOM.  over in here, and don't you run 'em out,'' said Pastor E.V. Hill II, a guest speaker from Calvary Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church in North Hollywood. ``We have to win the war against the temptations of the flesh with the spirit.''

State Sen. Richard Alarcon, D-Van Nuys, told the congregation during the ceremony that the new church and expanded outreach programs would help unite and heal the community.
