AMERICAN AIRLINES BEGINS SERVICE TO PARIS FROM MIAMI MARCH 22
MIAMI, March 19 /PRNewswire/ -- American Airlines will begin nonstop service between Miami and Paris on March 22, initially flying the route four days a week but increasing to daily flights in May. American Airlines will be the only carrier to provide non-stop flights from Miami to Paris' Orly Airport.
American will fly from Miami to Paris on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and from Paris to Miami on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
Daily service from Miami will begin April 20, 1992.
"Miami is a logical funnel point between Europe and Central and South America, as well as South Florida and the Caribbean," said Donald P. O'Hare, American vice president of field services for Florida, the Caribbean and Latin America. "We currently serve both London's Heathrow Airport and Madrid from Miami and this new Paris service will enhance our already successful trans-Atlantic markets."
American will fly the 177-seat Boeing 767-200ER and feature its international Flagship Service, which includes a three-class cabin and an award winning food and beverage service.
Flight 90 will depart Miami at 6:15 p.m., arriving at Paris' Orly Airport at 9:10 a.m. the following morning. Westbound, Flight 91 will leave Paris at 10:40 a.m. and arrive in Miami at 3:55 p.m. the same day.
Miami will be American's fifth U.S. market to Paris. It currently flies there from its hubs in Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth and Raleigh/Durham, as well as New York. It will begin service between Boston and Paris on May 25, 1992.
On March 22, at 5:30 p.m., American Airlines will celebrate the inaugural flight with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Jean Francois Thiollier, consul general of France, and O'Hare, will take part.
American Airlines, with a fleet of more than 600 aircraft, is the largest carrier in the trans-Atlantic market, currently offering more than 200 flights a week to 12 airports in eight countries.
American Airlines, something special to Europe.
