AMERICA ONLINE EXPANDS OFFERING FOR PALMTOPS; PARTNERS WITH GENERAL MAGIC TO PROVIDE CUSTOMIZED ONLINE SERVICE

 VIENNA, Va., Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- America Online, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: AMER), announced today that it will provide a customized edition of its service for the Magic Cap communications platform and General Magic licensees. This customized edition will meet the needs of mobile professionals by offering services such as electronic mail, up-to-the-minute news, stock quotes and portfolio management.
 America Online was the first consumer online service to embrace palmtop technology. This alliance with General Magic extends the company's lead in the palmtop segment of the computing market.
