AMD64 Technology and CineForm Software Delivers Real-Time High Definition Video Editing on Feature Film 'Dust to Glory'.

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- "Only on AMD (Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, www.amd.com) A major manufacturer of semiconductor devices including x86-compatible CPUs, embedded processors, flash memories, programmable logic devices and networking chips. 64" breakthrough in film making achieved with CineForm's Prospect HD online digital intermediate technology

"Dust To Glory", a film by BronWa Pictures and an IFC (Internet Foundation Classes) A class library from Netscape that provides an application framework and graphical user interface (GUI) routines for Java programmers. "Dust To Glory" broke new ground when choosing AMD64 technology to power Prospect HD, a compressed digital intermediate online format for real-time high-definition (HD) editing, color correction Altering the colors in an image in order to print or display it properly or for special effects. Depending on the application, color correction can be a significant problem if the resulting image must be approved or a purchase is made because of color choice.  and final film out. Never before has a film intended for broad theatrical release used a compressed digital intermediate format throughout its online workflow.

The matching of these technologies and the success of the implementation on "Dust To Glory" represents a breakthrough in the film making process. By putting more power in the hands of the creator and eliminating the need for expensive, proprietary, post-production equipment, innovative software like Prospect HD on AMD64 technology increases creative freedom in the post-production process. The increase in raw processing power allows software like Prospect HD to literally replace specialized video processing Video processing techniques are used in video codecs, video players and other devices. "Prospect HD software, which was originally developed on a competing dual-processor PC architecture, balances both high memory bandwidth Memory bandwidth is the rate at which data can be read from or stored into a semiconductor memory by a processor. Memory bandwidth is usually expressed in units of bytes/second, though this can vary for systems with natural data sizes that are not a multiple of the commonly used  and fast arithmetic processing. But we soon discovered that CPU CPU

memory bandwidth limitations would not allow us to reach real-time performance, meaning we didn't have a viable product. By simply moving our software to a dual AMD Opteron processor-based workstation from BOXX Technologies we immediately gained a 50% performance increase - without further optimization - which was more than enough for us to achieve real time," said David Taylor David Taylor or Dave Taylor can be one of several persons: Sports people

"I credit AMD's Direct Connect Architecture and its ability to address larger data sets direct from memory for this breakthrough."

"We broke every rule in delivering a high-quality HD master for the film print," said Jacob Rosenberg, online editor and supervisor for "Dust To Glory". "The CineForm Intermediate running on AMD64 provided flawless reliability and stunning visual quality through multiple recompressions, holding true to the original source quality. The processor speed enabled me to edit with multiple streams of HD in real-time. Making changes in the eleventh hour, the real-time performance with the AMD64 processor made a huge difference in productivity."

"AMD's mission is to remove technology barriers in the creative process and make it easier for story tellers to work their magic," said Charlie Boswell, director of Digital Media and Entertainment at AMD. About AMD64

AMD64 evolves the industry-standard 32-bit x86 architecture The generic term x86 refers to the "CISC" type instruction set of the most commercially successful CPU architecture[1] in the history of personal computing, used in processors from Intel, AMD, VIA, and others.  to support the demanding 64-bit environment and enables next-generation functionality and productivity today. AMD designed the AMD64 platform to allow end users to enjoy reliable, best-in-class performance on the 32-bit software they own today while preparing for a seamless transition to high-performance 64-bit applications. Designed from the ground up to support multi-core capability, future AMD64 dual-core processors will amplify the elegance and power of AMD's current single-core solutions. The AMD64 architecture is also designed to enhance the security of your computing environment by integrating Enhanced Virus Protection Enhanced Virus Protection, often abbreviated as EVP, is a proprietary technology used by AMD which attempts to prevent malicious computer code from being executed without the user's knowledge or permission.  technology enabled by advanced anti-virus features in Windows(R) XP Service Pack 2 and Windows Server See Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2003, Windows Home Server, Windows 2000 and Windows NT.  2003 Service Pack 1.
