AMD Wins Preliminary Injunction.

 issued a preliminary injunction enjoining Hyundai Electronics America from using or disclosing AMD (Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, www.amd.com) A major manufacturer of semiconductor devices including x86-compatible CPUs, embedded processors, flash memories, programmable logic devices and networking chips.  flash memory and related manufacturing process trade secrets.

The injunction further enjoins five Hyundai employees who formerly worked for AMD from performing certain job functions for Hyundai's Flash Division.

AMD asked the court for a preliminary injunction on March 8, 1996, after Hyundai hired more than a dozen AMD employees for Hyundai's newly established Flash Division. AMD is a world leader in flash memory technology and the pioneer of single-voltage flash memory devices. The court granted AMD's application for a preliminary injunction after three days of hearings and upon voluminous written submissions by the parties.
