These drivers are offered free of charge with AMD's PCnet Ethernet controllers and target PC networking applications such as network interface cards (NICs) and LAN-on-the-motherboard designs.

"AMD expects Microsoft Windows 2000 and Linux to receive tremendous response in the market," said Dr. Laila Razouk, vice president, Network Products Division at AMD. "AMD's new PCnet drivers, optimized for these new operating systems, will enable companies to deploy AMD's Managed Performance Portfolio capabilities in their networks should they move to Windows 2000 or Linux."
