"With our new TMP plant now online, a growing number of partners and customers in China will have greater access to AMD's leading technology solutions," said Karen Guo, corporate vice president and president of AMD Greater China. The new TMP facility will further empower AMD's growth momentum in China and enhance the company's worldwide growth strategy. Its construction demonstrates AMD's long-term commitment to China and continues a strategic focus that started in 1996 when the company began construction of the adjacent Flash memory assembly and TMP plant. The Flash memory facility was completed in 1998.

AMD gained significant momentum in 2004 when it strengthened its relationships with some of China's leading information technology (IT) companies, established AMD China Co., Ltd., and announced plans to establish a Greater China headquarters in Beijing. In addition, the AMD Opteron(TM) processor-based Dawning4000A supercomputer was ranked the tenth fastest in the world and was named by China's Science & Technology Daily newspaper as one of the Top Ten Technology achievements in 2004. The system was also named a "China Top Ten Technology Advancement" by China Academy of Sciences and China Academy of Engineering. Also last year, AMD won China's Science & Technology Daily newspaper 2004 TOP 10 award for leading the IT industry to pervasive 64-bit computing.

The new TMP facility is currently testing, marking and packing seventh generation products, including AMD Sempron(TM) processors. AMD plans to begin moving its eighth-generation microprocessors through the facility in the second half of 2005.
