AMD Announces Winners of the AMD Athlon 64 Processor Animation and Digital Film Contest.

: AMD) today announced the winners of its AMD Athlon(TM) 64 processor Animation and Digital Film Contest, a global search for the best non-commercial animation and digital short films. The upcoming AMD Athlon 64 processor is expected to bring true cinematic computing to the market and enable users to experience true-to-life digital entertainment. Contest participants submitted original work in one of two categories, Digital Cinematography cinematography: see motion picture photography.

Daniel Zdunczyk of Wroclaw, Poland, won the grand prize in the Digital Film category for his submission titled "1-May." , won the grand prize in the Computer Character Animation category for her submission titled "Loco Melones." Each grand prize winner will receive a desktop system based on the upcoming AMD Athlon 64 processor and $6,400 cash.

All of the semifinalists' submissions will be unveiled at AMD Athlon 64 launch events around the world and will be available at www.amd.com/animationcontest on September 23. The grand prize winners' submissions were rendered on AMD Athlon 64 processor-based systems.

The AMD Athlon 64 processor will launch worldwide beginning on September 23 and is expected to be the industry's first and only Windows(R)-compatible 64-bit PC processor. Providing access to unprecedented software performance for current applications and designed to run next-generation software, the AMD Athlon 64 processor will enable users to experience movie-like gaming and prepare for a new world of 3-D interactive games and digital media.

AMD received submissions from around the world, including Poland, Singapore, England, Canada, Mexico, United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. , Italy, Spain and Russia. In addition to the two grand prize winners, the following submissions were chosen as semifinalists:
