Synectics said it is integrating the 3ware 9650SE 12-port SATA II RAID controller into its 12-drive MDRS Primary Storage Node (PSN), a scalable CCTV storage platform designed to meet a range of data retention and video performance requirements. The company said that it has selected 3ware controllers because of their high performance and data protection and recovery capabilities. The Synectics MDRS PSN, designed to record MPEG-encoded video streams from direct-attached or network-attached video encoders, features a RAID 6 configuration for protection against dual-drive failure. Using 1TB hard drives, each PSN can scale to 12TB of raw capacity. Typical deployments range from 5 to 25 PSNs, depending on the camera count, video retention policy and recording bit-rate parameters. No financial or pricing details were disclosed.
