AMCC's New Clock and Data Recovery Device Adds Multi-Rate Capability to Family of Silicon Solutions.

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 17, 1998--

Industry's First Integrated Clock and Data Recovery Unit to Support

OC-3, OC-12, Gigabit Ethernet and OC-48 Data Rates, Ideal For DWDM (Dense WDM) The term given to wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) when significantly more channels were being added. Since WDM is increasingly more "dense" all the time, both terms are used synonymously. See WDM.

(3) (Common Data Rate) A standard sampling rate for digital video for 480i and 576i systems. The rate is 13.5 MHz. See ITU-R BT.
) device capable of supporting OC-3, OC-12, Gigabit Ethernet and OC-48 frequencies.

Joining the recently announced S3047 clock and data recovery device capable of operating without an external reference clock, AMCC offers the most complete line of OC-48 CDR solutions available. The S3050 achieves the high speeds and meets the performance requirements for today's converging datacom and telecom markets while complying with ANSI (American National Standards Institute, New York, www.ansi.org) A membership organization founded in 1918 that coordinates the development of U.S. voluntary national standards in both the private and public sectors. It is the U.S. member body to ISO and IEC. , Bellcore and ITU-T See ITU.

specifications for jitter tolerance, jitter transfer and jitter generation.

Offering the industry's best combination of jitter performance and power consumption, the S3050's multi-ratelecom markets converge and new network infrastg the S3050.

"We engineered the S3050 to simplify design in applications which use multiple frequenciess position as the industry leader in OC-48 clock and data recovery devices."

The S3050 supports clock rlter, and Voltage Controlled Oscillator oscillator

Mechanical or electronic device that produces a back-and-forth periodic motion. A pendulum is a simple mechanical oscillator that swings with a constant amplitude, requiring the addition of energy at each swing only to compensate for the energy lost because of air
(VCO). O frequency is then varied by this DC voltage indiately, with production release scheduled for for the world's communication infrastructure. The company utilizes its world class expertise in mixed-signal design and multiple silicon process technologies to provide net and Fibre Channel markets.

AMCC's corces are located throughout the world.
