AMC to Open the Largest Megaplex Theatre in Japan at Holiday Square in Toyohashi; `Toyohashi Day' and VIP Reception Among Grand-Opening Events.

AMC Entertainment Inc. (AMEX: AEN), one of the world's leading theatrical exhibition companies, has announced the grand opening July 17 of an 18-screen megaplex in the Holiday Square Amusement Building in Toyohashi, Japan.

The AMC Holiday Square 18, the latest example of the megaplex concept developed by AMC, will offer moviegoers the finest customer amenities and the most dynamic screen presentation available, along with a greater choice of films and viewing times.

The megaplex's 18 auditoriums will occupy the third and fifth floors of the Holiday Square Amusement Building in Fujisawa Cho, Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture. The entertainment center's state-of-the-art offerings also include a Sega Arena game center near the AMC Holiday Square 18's first-floor box office, and a Sonic Bowl by Sega.

In addition to the first ticketed day of operation, Saturday, July 17, grand-opening events at the AMC Holiday Square 18 include:

--   Thursday, July 15: VIP reception held at Crown Plaza Toyohashi,
     Holiday Hall, jointly hosted by AMC, Toyohashi Sports Center,
     Sega Enterprises and Denny's Japan.

--   Friday, July 16: Toyohashi Day. Visitors can experience the
     theatre in trailers (movie previews) and special films
     demonstrating the theatre's leading-edge presentation technology.

The AMC Holiday Square 18, the largest megaplex in Japan, will be the third megaplex opened in Japan as part of AMC's international expansion. AMC's first theatre in Japan, the AMC Canal City 13 in Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, opened in 1996. A second location, the AMC Nakama 16 in Nakama City, Fukuoka Prefecture, opened in November 1998. Two more megaplexes - the AMC Shinsei 16 in Gifu Prefecture and the AMC Maihama 16, located in Tokyo Disneyland  in Chiba Prefecture - are scheduled to open in spring 2000.
