AMC announces redesign of U.S. Navy gun component. (Metalcasting Associations).The American Metalcasting Consortium (AMC), a partnership formed by AES, SFSA SFSA Steel Founders' Society of America , NFFS NFFS Nonfederal Financial Support (Public Broadcasting) NFFS Nonferrous Founder's Society and NADGA to increase the utilization of metal castings in government defense applications, announced the successful redesign of a handgrip component for the U.S. Navy's MK-38 Machine Gun System. This redesign program was funded through the Procurement Readiness Optimization--Advanced Casting Technology Program sponsored by the Defense Supply Center Philadelphia and the Defense Logistics Agency Noun 1. Defense Logistics Agency - a logistics combat support agency in the Department of Defense; provides worldwide support for military missions Defense Department, Department of Defense, DoD, United States Department of Defense, Defense - the federal department . The grip is used on a 25mm machine gun that is mounted on most Navy ships. The government contractor for the parts, Defense Supply Center Columbus and Naval Surface Warfare Center Noun 1. Naval Surface Warfare Center - the agency that provides scientific and engineering and technical support for all aspects of surface warfare NSWC , worked with the AMC to redesign the cast components of the grip. |
