MedTrans ambulance company will donate a 3-year-old ambulance, and General Medical Corp. will donate emergency medical supplies to the Camarillo-Autlan Sister City Committee during a presentation at City Hall on Thursday Thursday: see week. .

Committee leaders plan to drive the ambulance to the Mexican border in May after gaining customs approval. From there, representatives from the city of Autlan, in the state of Jalisco, will take the ambulance and supplies, said Sal Plascencia, a leader of the sister city committee.

Camarillo and Autlan became sister cities three years ago. The relationship already has produced emergency relief to help Autlan repair schools after an earthquake centered in Manzanillo a year ago.

The ambulance will be a valuable addition to the Red Cross, which provides many medical services in the Autlan area. The rig has a value of about $6,000 and will be equipped with supplies the Red Cross needs for emergencies.

``The Red Cross is used a lot. They use it in any emergency,'' Plascencia said.

Autlan civic leaders made the request for medical supplies when sister city committee members visited the central Mexican city in March.
