AMBRA ENHANCES ITS PENTIUM-BASED SYSTEMS WITH HIGH PERFORMANCE FEATURES AND LOWER PRICES

 RALEIGH, N.C., Jan. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- AMBRA(TM) Computer Corporation today announced the availability of two new high performance features for its Pentium(TM)-based systems and also said that it is reducing the prices for all AMBRA Pentium-based PCs by more than 10 percent.
 AMBRA customers now have two high performance options to choose from: the Matrox MGA II+ video card, delivering 90 million WinMark(a) performance and the Adstar 1GB hard drive with 8.5 millisecond access speed. Also, provided as standard equipment is a PCI/IDE controllor which increases the number of peripheral devices that can be supported from two to four.
 "These new offerings for our Pentium PCs reflect AMBRA's continued commitment to provide users with the utmost in system performance," said David B. Middleton, president and CEO of AMBRA. "And we are fully leveraging our worldwide product sourcing abilities while taking advantage of industry pricing trends to provide the most affordable high- end PCs in the market today."
 Sample Configurations
 Customers can now purchase an Intel(R) 60MHz, 64-bit Pentium processor with 8MB of RAM, a 540MB hard drive, 256KB L2 processor cache, a 3.5" diskette drive, seven expansion slots (4 ISA, 2PCI, 1 ISA/PCI), a fast PCI IDE controllor, PCI graphics accelerator and a 14" SVGA color monitor for $2,669. For increased graphics performance, customers can order the same system with 16MB of RAM, a Diamond Viper graphics accelerator with 2MB VRAM and a 15" FST color monitor for $3,449.
 AMBRA also offers a powerful, high storage capacity system for $4,370. It includes 16MB of RAM, a 1GB IDE hard drive, PCI Matrox MGA II+ graphics accelerator with 2MB of VRAM, double-speed CD-ROM drive and a 15" FST color monitor.
 All systems come hot-loaded with MS-DOS(R) 6.2 and Windows(TM) 3.1. New pricing takes effect Monday, Jan. 17.
