Extensive Commercial Applications Possible for Proprietary

Technology Which Masks Objectionable Taste and After-taste of

Ingestible Minerals

AMBI AMBI Associação Médica Brasileira Iridologia  Inc. (Nasdaq:AMBI) today announced that it received US Patent No. 6,156,332 covering compositions and their uses for reducing the unpleasant taste and after-taste of a wide range of mineral supplements including potassium potassium (pətăs`ēəm), a metallic chemical element; symbol K [Lat. kalium=alkali]; at. no. 19; at. wt. 39.0983; m.p. 63.25°C;; b.p. 760°C;; sp. gr. .862 at 20°C;; valence +1. , calcium, zinc and magnesium.

Gail Montgomery, AMBI's President and Chief Executive Officer, commented, "This new technology strengthens our ability to deliver mineral supplements in a form that promotes consumer acceptance and longer-term use. The unpleasant taste and after-taste associated with minerals has been a limiting factor A factor or condition that, either temporarily or permanently, impedes mission accomplishment. Our patented technology allows for the inclusion of minerals in a host of new and existing product applications. We now plan to pursue a development and licensing effort to bring the benefits of our discovery to the general public."

AMBI noted that it had developed the taste-masking technology as part of a recent successful program to formulate a potassium supplement. This product is targeted for hypertensive hypertensive /hy·per·ten·sive/ (-ten´siv)

The product is capable of delivering a prescription dose of potassium but without the metallic taste inherent in many existing products. Ms. Montgomery continued, "In working with the technology, it became apparent that the potential application is broader than the $0.4 billion U.S. wholesale market for prescription potassium supplementation. We intend to draw upon our strength in the fast-growing $1.3 billion mineral sector of the nutrition industry to maximize the opportunities associated with this technology."
