AMBI AMBI Associação Médica Brasileira Iridologia  Inc. (Nasdaq: AMBI) announced that it expects to report a significant improvement in earnings for the first fiscal quarter that ends on September 30, 1999, attributable in substantial part to a more than 40% increase in revenues over the revenues in the corresponding quarter in the prior fiscal year. The Company also announced that it is today launching a new dietary supplement bar on QVC ahead of schedule.

Fredric D. Price, AMBI's President and Chief Executive Officer, said, "Revenues and income from the Lite Bites(R) line of dietary supplement bars acquired in January 1999 exceeded our initial expectations and, as a result, we accelerated our bar product development programs. Today, ahead of schedule, we are launching Sweet Support(TM) on the QVC network in the US. Sweet Support(TM) is a dietary supplement bar that is formulated to support the special nutritional needs of people concerned with blood sugar levels. On October 13, we will launch Brite Bites(TM), a nutrition bar similar to Lite Bites(R), on the QVC network in the UK, also ahead of schedule.

"We recently announced that we received two significant patents on our Chromax(R) chromium chromium (krō`mēəm) [Gr.,=color], metallic chemical element; symbol Cr; at. no. 24; at. wt. 51.996; m.p. about 1,857°C;; b.p. 2,672°C;; sp. gr. about 7.2 at 20°C;; valence +2, +3, +6.  picolinate dietary supplement, which brings our total to 9 patents on this technology. , increasing lean body mass and reducing body fat, and promoting healthy cholesterol levels. Other product development programs are also proceeding on schedule, including bars that include our patented ingredient arginine arginine (är`jənĭn), organic compound, one of the 20 amino acids commonly found in animal proteins. Only the l-stereoisomer participates in the biosynthesis of proteins.  silicate silicate, chemical compound containing silicon, oxygen, and one or more metals, e.g., aluminum, barium, beryllium, calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese, potassium, sodium, or zirconium. Silicates may be considered chemically as salts of the various silicic acids. . We plan to introduce these new bars with a dietary supplement claim that they `Help maintain healthy cholesterol levels'."

Mr. Price added, "Success in the dietary supplements marketplace is a function of having safe and efficacious ef·fi·ca·cious

Therefore, in addition to expanding our product development programs, we are continuing to test new distribution systems for dietary supplements, including direct response catalogs. We also continue to evaluate acquisitions and alliances to broaden our product line and to leverage the resources of other, larger companies. This is consistent with and builds upon our January 1999 acquisition of Lite Bites(R) and our August 1999 alliance with QVC."
