AMAZING GRACE THRIFT STORE MOVES A MILE INTO LARGER DIGS.

LANCASTER - Grace Resource Center's year-old thrift store has moved into a new building with five times its previous space.

Helping finance Grace Resource's charity work, the new center sells secondhand men's, women's and children's clothing, shoes, housewares house·wares

Cooking utensils, dishes, and other small articles used in a household, especially in the kitchen.
, books, furniture and other items.

``We always have a unique mix of merchandise,'' said Georgia Lowder, the director, who leads a staff of eight.

The new Grace Thrift Super Center is at 316 E. Ave. I, one mile east of the store's previous location.

The new building provides room for 1,000 square feet of floor space for furniture, including dining room sets, dressers, beds, radios and refrigerators.

The new building also has a library furnished with tables and chairs, with shelves of books for sale as well as a computer with Internet access See how to access the Internet. .

``Everything you see in the store has been donated. Nothing has been purchased,'' Lowder said.

The thrift store's income helps support the nonprofit A corporation or an association that conducts business for the benefit of the general public without shareholders and without a profit motive.

Nonprofits are also called not-for-profit corporations. Nonprofit corporations are created according to state law.

The thrift store also has a service called Grace's Closet, in which families who lost their homes to fire or otherwise need help are provided with clothing and furnishings.

``For people in need who have nothing we give them clothing and we furnish their housing for free,'' Lowder said. ``This is the only thrift center in town that has this ministry with it.''
