About the Staffing and Structure Survey

2000 marked the 14th consecutive year of the Staffing & Structure Survey. The research found that despite higher turnover and a daunting daunt

[Middle English daunten, from Old French danter, from Latin
lack of skilled workers, major U.S. companies grew their workforces by an average annual rate of 5.9%. 36% of respondent companies reported concurrent hiring and firing throughout the year. This treatment of workforce size and structure reflects a growing trend among U.S. businesses to focus on "work" instead of "jobs." AMA's research shows that those companies that adopt a fluid management of their workforces perform better financially than those that maintain a more traditional management style.
