AM visits mental health project.


A CONCERNED AM is keen to ensure that budget cuts do not jeopardise the good work being carried out to help people with serious mental illness in North Wales North Wales (known in some archaic texts as Northgalis) is the northernmost unofficial region of Wales, bordered to the south by Mid Wales and to the east by England. .

Welsh Conservative Assembly Member Mark Isherwood Mark Isherwood, born 1959, is a Conservative member of the National Assembly for Wales for the region of North Wales. He is the son of Liberal Democrat politician Rodney Isherwood.  has spoken out after meeting representatives of the severe mental illness charity Hafal to discuss the Wrexham Outreach Tenancy Support (WOTS WOTS Word On The Street

) project and other similar projects across North Wales.

"One in 30 of us will suffer serious mental illness at some point in our lives and Hafal provide an invaluable housing related support service which helps tackle the revolving door faced by many after hospital release," he said.

"They provide support and skills training which helps people to manage their finances, to have a good relationship with their neighbours and to avoid becoming homeless.

"As Hafal state we must develop a coherent housing strategy for people with mental illness, taking them wherever possible from complex need accommodation into eventual independent living.
