ALi Introduces Complete Two-Chip Core Logic Solution For Pentium Series/K5/M1 System Architecture; Provides highest level of integration for improved performance and reduced costs.

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 13, 1995--Acer Laboratories Inc. (ALi) today announced the introduction of its new Aladdin III chipset for the Pentium series, AMD K5 and Cyrix M1 CPUs.

The Aladdin III chip set consists of two chips: the M1521 memory, cache, buffer controller and CPU-to-PCI bridge; and the M1523 SIO. The M1521 is packaged in the new Ball Grid Array package (BGA) which provides for improved AC performance at high CPU speeds. The M1523 is packaged in a 208-lead PQFP. Both devices are fabricated using a 0.6-micron 3.3/5 Volt CMOS process.

Aladdin III is a third generation chipset, designed to provide the highest performance, most cost effective Pentium-class business PC as well as the best valued home computer. Optimized for Windows '95 and other multi-tasking/multi-threading operating systems, Aladdin III provides highly efficient bus transactions, along with a highly concurrent architecture and a highly integrated design including an integrated MESI Tag memory, a smart Unified Memory Architecture (UMA) and ECC. Aladdin III also integrates the PS2 keyboard/mouse controller, Real Time Clock, and a high performance IDE bus master for reduced system cost and complexity.

Pricing and Availability

The Aladdin III chipset will available for sampling in January 1996 with full production available in March. The chipset will be priced at $28.00 in volume quantities.
