Trident Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ:TRID) and Acer Laboratories Inc. (ALi) today announced CyberBlade Aladdin i1 their new 3D/DVD integrated chipset for mobile PCs featuring Trident's CyberBlade 3D/DVD video graphics and ALi's Aladdin Slot1/Socket 370 Northbridge. With the industry's best power management and extensive integration, this chipset supports all Pentium(TM) II, Pentium III and Celeron(TM) CPUs, providing notebook PC manufacturers with unprecedented price/performance advantages. This mobile chipset includes the CyberBlade Aladdin i1 (M1632M) 3D/DVD Graphics with Intel Slot 1-licensed Northbridge and ALi's M1535 Mobile Southbridge. The chipset is targeted at the value and mainstream notebook market segments.

The CyberBlade Aladdin i1 supports Shared Memory Architecture (SMA) reducing the need and thus the cost and board space of a dedicated frame buffer. Up to 1.5GB of system memory is supported. High-speed internal AGP bus mastering bus supports high performance 3D and DVD video playback, along with on-chip motion comp hardware. Integrated low voltage differential signaling (LVDS) is also integrated reducing board space and overall costs. ALi's proven M1535 Southbridge completes the chipset offering, providing superior system features and power management for mobile PCs. The M1535 integrates AC-Link Host Controller, Hardware SoundBlaster Pro/16 compatibility, Host Signal Processing (HSP) software modem interface, ACPI support, green function, 2-channel dedicated Ultra 66 IDE master controller, 4 USB ports, Super I/O controller and advanced Power Management Unit.
