ALZHEIMER'S SUFFERER GONE SINCE SATURDAY.

Byline: Greg Botonis Staff Writer

LANCASTER - A 67-year-old woman who suffers from Alzheimer's disease Alzheimer's disease (ăls`hī'mərz, ôls–), degenerative disease of nerve cells in the cerebral cortex that leads to atrophy of the brain and senile dementia.  drove off from her daughter's Lancaster home Saturday and hasn't been seen since.

Sheriff's officials and family members say Della Mae Vincent may have been attempting to drive to Fresno to stay with relatives and gotten lost.

``She really doesn't know how to get there but may have tried and could be lost in the middle of the desert now,'' said sheriff's Detective Diane Harris of the Missing Persons Bureau. ``She's an older lady and because of her condition, we are very concerned about her. She can become confused and forgetful.''

Vincent moved from Fresno to Lancaster in May and had initially moved in with her ex-husband. When that arrangement fell through, she moved in temporarily with her daughter in the 400 block of East Lancaster Boulevard.

Vincent's daughter had begun making arrangements for Vincent to return to Fresno where she would be cared for by other relatives, Harris said.

``She may have just gotten impatient and just drove away,'' Harris said.
