ALZHEIMER'S, MEALS ON WHEELS BENEFACTORS.

LANCASTER - True to its Christmastime tradition of making charitable contributions, the Quartz Hill Woman's Club made financial donations to an Alzheimer's program and the Antelope Valley Committee on Aging's Meals on Wheels n. 1. A program that delivers hot meals to persons, such as the elderly or disabled, who are confined to their homes and unable to cook for themselves; also, the meals thus delivered. Such programs are usually conducted by governmental or charitable organizations. .

At the club's annual catered Christmas luncheon in the Lane Park community building, Miss Quartz Hill Jordana Beaver, who is the club's membership chairman, presented Sheila Wright from the Lancaster Adult Day Care Center with a $500 check to help the center's Alzheimer's patients.

 Gardens recently and donated the proceeds.

, also donated $800 to Meals on Wheels to help reduce the waiting list of shut-in seniors who have been unable to receive a hot meal on weekdays.

Entertainment for the luncheon was by the Oliver Handbell Choir from the Lancaster United Methodist Church United Methodist Church, in the United States, religious body formed by the union in 1968 of the Evangelical United Brethren Church and the Methodist Church (see Methodism). , with Mary Zimmerman directing.

There will be a potluck luncheon party and $10 gift exchange at the executive board meeting on Dec. 19 at Mayflower Gardens Two. The meeting is open to all members who wish to attend.

Friends of the Center will hold their annual meeting Tuesday at the Antelope Valley Senior Center, 777 W. Jackman St.

Officers will be elected and installed that day.

She urged all seniors to get involved in what goes on at local senior centers.

The group has more than 500 members.

LANCASTER -- The Antelope Valley Senior Center will be closed from 1 p.m. Jan. 12 through 8 a.m. Jan. 22 so the multipurpose room floor can be refinished.

Menus for the week at the senior life nutrition sites in Lancaster and Palmdale have been announced. All meals include bread, margarine and coffee, tea or milk, for the suggested donation of $2.
